सरकारी कर्मचार्‍यांना 7 व्या वेतन आयोगानुसार, फिटमेंट फॅक्टरच्या 2.57 पट पगार दिला जातो. मात्र सातव्या वेतन आयोगात अनेक पदांच्या वेतनश्रेणीत कमी वेतन असल्याच्या तक्रारी केंद्र सरकारकडे करण्यात आल्या आहेत. सातव्या वेतन आयोगाच्या वेतनश्रेणीत बदल करावा किंवा ८वा वेतन आयोग लागू करावा, अशी मागणी कामगार संघटनेने केंद्र सरकारकडे केली आहे.सध्या केंद्रीय कर्मचार्‍यांना फिटमेंट फॅक्टरच्या 2.57 पट म्हणून किमान मूळ वेतन 18000/- मिळते. तर महाराष्ट्र राज्य कर्मचार्‍यांना फिटमेंट फॅक्टरच्या 2.57 पट म्हणून रु. 15000/- किमान मूळ वेतन मिळते. सध्याची महागाई आणि दर 5-8 वर्षांनी नवीन वेतन आयोग लागू करण्याची तरतूद लक्षात घेता 2024-25 या वर्षात नवीन वेतन आयोग लागू होईल, अशी अपेक्षा आहे. कामगार संघटना फिटमेंट फॅक्टरमध्ये 3.68 पट वाढ करण्याची मागणी करत आहे. यानुसार केंद्रीय कर्मचाऱ्यांचे किमान मूळ वेतन रु.18000/- वरून रु.26000/- केले जाईल.

.या संदर्भात कामगार संघटनेकडून केंद्र सरकारला नवीन वेतन आयोग व 18 महिन्यांच्या कालावधीतील डीए थकबाकीबाबत निवेदन देण्यात आले आहे.
नव्या वेतन आयोगाऐवजी नवीन वेतन प्रणाली लागू होणार का?सरकारी कर्मचाऱ्यांना 8वा वेतन लागू न करता 7व्या वेतन आयोगातच नवीन वेतनप्रणाली लागू करणे हा उत्तम पर्याय असल्याचे सांगण्यात येत आहे. या नवीन वेतन प्रणालीमध्ये कर्मचाऱ्यांचा महागाई भत्ता ५० टक्क्यांपेक्षा जास्त असल्यास स्वयंचलित प्रणालीद्वारे वेतनश्रेणी वाढविण्यात येणार आहे. या वेतन प्रणालीला स्वयंचलित वेतन पुनरावृत्ती प्रणाली म्हणतात. .
